Travel chess sets, in my experience, have one key problem which is that the magnets used to help secure the pieces to the board are often not strong enough to withstand the occasional bumps and jolts encountered during long road trips. Over time the magnets may also fall out of the pieces and get lost, completely voiding the original portable value the set provided. With those issues in mind, I designed my own magnetic travel chess set that employs a total of 104 neodymium magnets, which are known for their strength and are also embedded in the board and pieces. The set also features custom, modern-styled chess pieces, handles for grip, and internal storage. With these improvements I can rest assured that my travel chess set will provide me unlimited entertainment for years to come.
